Clothing Design Support Questions Before Sampling
Can I start with a sketch or reference photo?
Yes. Send front and back references, the details you want to change, target fit, intended fabric and quantity. Mark inspiration images as references and explain your own requirements. Missing measurements and construction details should be agreed before a sample is made.
What should I include in a tech pack?
Include garment views, measurement points and tolerances, fabric composition and GSM, trims, artwork dimensions and placement, colors, labels and packaging. Read our clothing tech pack guide. The Techpacker tech pack guide provides background on communicating garment details; it is a reference, not an STX service guarantee.
How do I specify sizing and graphic placement?
Use measurements rather than only terms such as oversized or cropped. Provide a base-size chart, target size range and artwork dimensions with distances from identifiable seams. Review grading, fit and placement on the physical sample; a mockup alone does not confirm the final fit.
What happens after the design brief is agreed?
Product development coordinates the specification and revisions, followed by sampling and approval. Review fabric options, printing and embroidery, and labels and packaging with the brief. Fees, sample rounds, deliverables, file ownership and timing should be confirmed in writing for your project. Submit your references through the inquiry form below.
How much does clothing design support cost?
Request a project-specific breakdown for technical drawings, patterns, grading and sample rounds. The cost depends on how complete your brief is, garment complexity and the revisions required. Confirm what is included before authorizing development; a garment unit price is not a design-service quotation.
Will I receive editable files and own the pattern?
Agree file formats, deliverables, permitted use and pattern ownership in writing before development starts. Ask whether editable artwork, graded measurements and pattern files are included or quoted separately. Keep the approved revision with your sample comments.
