Bulk Apparel Production

Bulk apparel production turns approved designs and samples into a coordinated manufacturing order. STX Garment supports custom hoodie, T-shirt and cut-and-sew projects from material planning to packing at our manufacturing base in Humen, Dongguan, China. Start with a confirmed specification, quantity breakdown and delivery requirement so the production plan can match your project.

What Must Be Approved Before Bulk Apparel Production?

  • Product specification: final tech pack, size chart, measurement tolerances, construction and bill of materials.
  • Pre-production sample: confirmed fit, fabric, color, decoration, trims and labels. Record any differences between the approved sample and the final order.
  • Order breakdown: quantity by style, color and size, plus agreed allowances or other order-specific requirements.
  • Commercial plan: quotation scope, payment schedule, lead-time assumptions, inspection requirements, packing and shipping responsibilities.

See product development, sample development and MOQ and pricing for preparation guidance.

Bulk Apparel Production Workflow

1. Confirm materials and production readiness

Review fabric, trims, artwork and packing requirements against the approved specification. Confirm availability and any material lead times before scheduling the order. Connect your fabric requirements and accessory requirements to the production plan.

2. Cutting and component preparation

Plan cutting against the approved pattern and size breakdown. Prepare components for the agreed sewing and decoration sequence. The sequence depends on the garment and technique; some artwork is applied to cut panels, while other processes occur after sewing.

3. Sewing and in-line review

Assemble garments to the approved construction details. Review workmanship and key measurements during production so issues can be identified before the remaining pieces follow the same process.

4. Printing, embroidery and other decoration

Use approved artwork and decoration references to check placement, scale, color and appearance. Discuss technique and compatibility with the selected fabric through our garment craftsmanship capabilities.

5. Finishing and quality control

Review completed garments, measurements, appearance, labels and other agreed acceptance criteria. Confirm correction and rechecking where required. See our apparel quality control checkpoints for how to define the inspection scope.

6. Packing and shipment readiness

Check quantities by style, color and size, then review folding, bags, cartons, shipping marks and documentation requirements. Finalize private label and packaging details before packing.

Bulk Apparel Production: Timing and Changes

The schedule depends on material availability, sample approval, decoration complexity, quantities, inspection and packing requirements. Confirm the production start conditions and delivery milestones in your quotation. Changes after approval may require a revised sample, material order, price or schedule; confirm their impact before proceeding.

Order-specific planning: a general lead-time estimate is not a shipment commitment. Agree on the approved specification, production start conditions, milestone dates and shipping term for your order.

Bulk Apparel Production: Quotation and Delivery Scope

Compare quotations using the same fabric, garment construction, decoration, quantity and packing requirements. Ask which development, sampling, testing and inspection costs are included. The agreed shipping term defines delivery responsibilities; EXW or FOB should be stated with the named place or port and the applicable terms. Freight, duties and destination charges should be clarified before comparing total costs. Refer to the ICC Incoterms rules overview when discussing the named place or port and the agreed delivery term.

Bulk Apparel Production Questions

Can I start bulk production using only a photo?

A photo can begin the discussion, but the production order needs agreed measurements, materials, construction and decoration details. Develop and approve the sample before authorizing bulk production.

Can different styles or colors share one MOQ?

MOQ depends on the style, color, fabric sourcing and decoration requirements. Send your full quantity breakdown so the team can review feasibility rather than assuming different variations can be combined.

What information should I send for a quote?

Send your tech pack or reference designs, garment type, fabric and weight, quantity by style/color/size, decoration, labels, packing, delivery destination and target date. Include inspection and testing requirements.
